Costume Design and Set Dressing for Whispers of Freedom

I had the pleasure of working with director Brandon Ashplant and military costume expert Martin Devon on BIFA qualifying short film Whispers of Freedom. Having been involved since some of the first meetings about the film I had the time to delve into the research about the true story it is based on. Knowing what roles and personalities needed to be portrayed on screen helped me build capsule style wardrobes largely from vintage pieces that were styled for each shoot. This film gave me amazing creative freedom to build room sets and character profiles using textiles and pieces that were as historically accurate as possible. This also included handling multiple items that were sent to Guernsey on loan from the DDR museum.
